VE Day Celebrations 2025 

Let's celebrate this historical event as a community! 

VE Day in 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War 
 
We are encouraging the Ripley Township to come together as a community to hold a celebration. Whether it be a party at your home, or in your garden or a street party, like in the good old days!

VE Day 80 Tribute 
Ripley Town Council, the Ripley and District Branch of the Royal British Legion and All Saint's Church, Ripley, invite the community along to an evening service to celebrate the end of the Second World War. Join us at the same time as many other communities throughout the UK mark this celebration with the lighting of the Lamp of Peace. 
 
When: Thursday 8th May 2025 
Time: 9.15pm for the lighting of the Lamp of Peace at 9.30pm. 
Bring a torch or use the torch on your mobile phone to help you read the order of service as it may be dark. 
Where: All Saint's Church yard, Church Street, Ripley.

Join us for a VE Picnic in the Park Come together with the community as we celebrate 80 years since VE Day with a picnic in the park! Pack your table, chairs and picnic blankets and join us for a wonderful afternoon of nostalgia, entertainment, and delicious food.  When: Sunday 11th May 2025 Where: Crossley Park, Ripley (Bandstand area) Time: From 1.30pm - 5.00pm.  Live wartime-era music from the fantastic Lady Lindy. Ice cream from Emma and Jen's Ice Cream. Cakes from Emma's Cakes. Hot & cold food available from Andy's Refreshments.  Meet the Ripley RBL and take part in fun activities for the kids!  Bring your friends and family, wave your Union Jacks, and let's commemorate this special occasion in style! Red, white and blue attire is encouraged!
