Born in Street Lane in 1957, I was brought up in Heage, having an affection for the area in which I grew up.
Job redundancy in 1980 brought a change of career and home to another part of the country.
A Councillor in Heage and Ambergate (1979–84), in Eastleigh (Southampton) in 1986 – 87 and active in Reading politics from 1987–1999, I became a member of Ripley Town Council again from 2007 and a Derbyshire County Councilor in May 2013.
I am active in a wide variety of local voluntary bodies and Carnival committees, including being Treasurer of three groups – Ripley Residents Association, Codnor Castle Heritage Trust and Ripley Heritage Action Group. I’m also a football referee.
I am a governor of Waingroves Primary School.
A lover of history, football, cricket, running and walks, I’m now an agency worker and supply teacher.
