Councillor Janis Gregory
(Elms Ward)
43 Peartree Avenue
DE5 3PR
Janis was elected to Ripley Town Council in 1986 and is proud to represent the Elms Ward.
She sits on the following Committees:
Events (Chair)
Financial Grants
Janis is now retired, but before this she worked for over 25 years for the Careers Service (Connexions) in a variety of jobs.
Janis became a Councillor to try to help people in the Ripley Township area and particularly in her Ward of Elms - not always by shouting but by working quietly behind the scenes.
Janis is married with one daughter, a son and four granddaughters and two great grandsons. Her interests are in knitting and politics. The first time she voted was for herself and she won at the age of 22.
Outside of Ripley Town Council, Janis' work tends to be behind the scenes. She chairs the Ripley Branch of the Labour Party and she is Secretary of the Amber Valley Constituency Labour Party. She has been a Governor on various schools in Ripley.
Janis tries to improve the Ripley Township by shopping locally and attending local events.
