Councillor Matt Murray
101, Heage Road
Matt was elected to Ripley Town Council in 2021 and is proud to represent the North Ward.
I wanted to be a Councillor to fairly represent all people who live and work in Ripley and to make sure that everybody’s voices are heard, even those in the minority. I aspire to be an accessible and approachable Councillor who is readily available for residents to turn to for support.
I particularly would like to focus on work that improves the Town Centre by supporting businesses and visitors to the town. I would like to see the council do even more to help address issues such as littering and anti-social behaviour by having closer links to the local Police and other partner organisations.
I would also like the council to try to do more to engage young adults in the political process and encourage them to get involved in council events.
Matt sits on the following Committees:
I am originally from The Wirral and moved to the Ripley Township with my partner in 2015 after studying at Keele University for a degree in International Relations and Politics. I currently work as a Senior Caseworker for Nigel Mills MP.
My hobbies include long country walks with our dog, travelling, listening to a wide variety of music, playing the drums. I am also passionate about classic cars and real ale.
I am also a Councillor on Amber Valley Borough Council representing Ripley Ward.
I want to continue to work to solve problems and improve conditions for local people. I enjoy helping constituents with casework, whether that’s directing them to the appropriate council service or assisting with queries involving third party organisations.
