Mick was elected to Ripley Town Council in 2003. He sits on the Ripley Town Council Employment and Planning Committees. 
 
Mick became a Councillor to improve the lives of the local residents by listening to what people want and turning that into policy and activities across the Township. 
 
He campaigns to protect Greenbelt and improve the local environment and reduce carbon. He wants to work with partners to tackle Anti Social Behaviour and improve community activities including sport and entertainment for all. 
 
Mick has two daughters and four grandchildren. He is a retired Welfare Rights Officer at Derbyshire County Council. He has a keen interest in music and loves to write and perform music and art. Up until 2019, he was the Secretary of the Ripley Music Festival for 18 years. He volunteers for Marehay Show.
