Ripley Town Council is looking to appoint an experienced Youth Worker to enhance the youth provision we provide in the Ripley Township.

Hours: Various (Zero hours contract)
Salary: £12.00 to £15.00 per hour
Various venues within the Ripley Township* (Derbyshire)
*Ripley, Marehay, Waingroves, Ambergate, Heage, Nether Heage, Sawmills, Bullbridge, Upper Hartshay, Lower Hartshay, Street Lane.
Some time will be spent working in the Ripley Town Council office on Grosvenor Road, Ripley and some working from home may be required.
We are currently recruiting for a part time Youth Worker to plan, develop and coordinate the delivery of positive and innovative activities within local venues and outdoors for young people from all backgrounds of secondary school age.
The Youth Worker will focus on building relationships and engaging with young people and will work with partners to identify young people who may require additional support and refer appropriately.
Engagement with the local community, and a commitment to building networks to create opportunities to increase support for young people, is a key part of this role. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with young people from a range of backgrounds and cultures and able to deliver arts, various sports and competitions etc.
Creating a program which would include involvement with the community, guidance on social media use, support for mental health, information for healthy diet and lifestyle and encourage any skills shown by the youngsters.
We are looking to develop the current Youth Engagement that we are offering to cover more of the Ripley Township.
This role will predominantly be undertaken in the late afternoons/evenings during the week. Weekend work and attendance at Ripley Town Council events may also be required.
Experience of project development and group work in a youth and community setting is required. You must be able to demonstrate ways in which you engage and develop positive relationships with young people and have the confidence and experience of diffusing conflict and aggression. We are looking at developing the current Youth Engagement that we are offering to cover more of the Ripley Township.
With excellent interpersonal, communication, administration, and time management skills, you will be competent with ICT, social media and be able to complete and maintain attendance records and explain how you would deliver the service.
Planning, organisation and delivering skills are essential, along with the ability to work as a team and on your own initiative. You will be expected to attend Ripley Town Council events and work evenings and some weekends.
The successful candidate will hold an NVQ Level 3 in Youth Work or equivalent or be currently working towards this.
You must be willing to complete First Aid Training. This role requires an Enhanced DBS check.
