The objectives of the Trust are the advancement of education for all by increasing and inspiring the public’s understanding and appreciation of the industrial heritage of Ripley, Derbyshire, with particular reference to the Butterley Works (including the Cromford Canal) and the Midland Railway sites in Ripley since the 18th century; and the advancement of heritage by the protection, preservation and maintenance of the historic buildings and monuments (including the Cromford Canal) for the public benefit; and the provision and development of a living museum comprising a complex of historic, architectural and archaeological importance, as a means of recording and exemplifying the contribution of the area since the 18th Century to the development of the modern industrialised world, for the benefit and enjoyment of the public.

Heage Windmill is the only working windmill in Derbyshire producing stone ground flour the traditional way. The mill is maintained by volunteers and open to the public for flour sales and tours at weekends and Bank Holiday Mondays, April to October. The mill is staffed by volunteers at the weekends who provide guided tours of the mill and run our small Visitor Centre and shop on site.

The aims of the Group are to promote education, raise awareness and a legacy of the Pentrich Revolution 1817, the forgotten revolution. We do this by means of producing books, walks and exhibitions and events. Education matter has been sent to schools.

The Princess Royal Class Locomotive Trust

Princess Royal Class Locomotive Trust is a museum and workshop which focuses on preserving and displaying LMS Coronation Class locomotives and carriages. Volunteers can fulfill various roles on site, from front of house (shop, café, visitor and welcome guides), maintenance team, gardening, fitting in the workshop or assisting at special events. We welcome everyone, regardless of their skills, experience or interests. The site is equipped with a lift and disabled toilets.
