Ripley Charter Fair 2020 is cancelled
Organiser of the Ripley Charter Fair, The Showman's Guild have taken the difficult decision to cancel the event this autumn.

Mayor of Ripley, Councillor Tony Holmes said, ‘Ripley Charter Fair has been held since 1251 and is one of the highlights of the year in Ripley. During the year, the Mayor has many responsibilities, but one of the most pleasurable is to continue the tradition and officially open the fair.'

He added, 'Ripley Town Council fully support The Showman’s Guild decision to cancel the event this year. The safety of our community is paramount to us. Ripley Market Place becomes a very busy area when the fair is in town and it is not possible for people to social distance from one another. We look forward to welcoming the fair back to Ripley in 2021, for what will be the 769th Ripley Charter Fair and seeing Ripley Market Place crowded once again.’
