At the Annual Meeting of Ripley Town Council earlier this week, Councillor Colin Bailey was unanimously voted in by his peers to become the next Mayor of Ripley. The Deputy Mayor elected is Councillor Nigel Weaving.

A Nether Heage resident Councillor Bailey has extensive experience in local government authorities and has a Higher National Diploma in Amenity Horticulture and a Post Graduate degree in Management. We are sure these skills and experience will come in handy during his time at Mayor.

He has already hit the ground running this week with a visit to Ripley Junior School and is looking forward to being invited to more events in the coming year.

Outside his duties, Colin enjoys live music, with a particular fondness for Jazz.

As Mayor, he will be supporting local charitable causes, which will be announced in due course.

If you would like to invite him to your event, please send an email with the details to admin@ripleytowncouncil.gov.uk
