2020 Youth Merit Award Nomination Form
Welcome to our first youth award!
The Ripley Town Council Youth Award is about recognising and celebrating the outstanding achievements of the brilliant young people in our township*.
We are looking for nominations from members of the public, including friends and neighbours along with schools, youth groups and voluntary organisations.
*Ripley, Waingroves, Marehay, Ambergate, Nether Heage, Bullbridge, Sawmills, Street Lane, Upper Hartshay or Lower Hartshay.
The award category
We are inviting you to nominate a young person for the award.
A young person who has provided outstanding community and voluntary service and has made a significant contribution to their community.
Anyone who has gone out of their way to help and improve the life of fellow residents and or neighbour(s) in their local communities or who has led others to bring about positive change in their community, school or area.
A young role model with a positive attitude and approach who has inspired others or who has gained vital life skills to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
A young person or group who has shown dedication in giving their free time to a project and made a difference in their community or who regularly goes out of their way to help other people or has caring responsibilities for a family member. Ages 11-18 years old.

Nomination rules
- The young person being nominated must live in the township*.
- Nominees must be at least 11 years old and no older than 18 by the 20 July 2020.
- You cannot nominate a young person you are related to.
- You can only submit one nomination.
- Self-nominations will not be accepted.
- The person you are nominating must agree to being nominated.
- Parent / guardian must agree to the nomination.
- You agree that by submitting a nomination you are happy for the young person’s name and photograph to be included in press / media releases.
- You cannot nominate if you are a serving Council member.
- Nominations for party political related work cannot be accepted.
- Nominations must be received at the Ripley Town Council office, either in electronic or hard copy by 23rd October 2020
- The Town Council’s decision is final.
- The winner will be announced at the Full Council Meeting November 17th 2020.
