Paul was first elected to Ripley Town Council in 2015.  
 
Paul is married with one child and lives in Marehay. He works in Intellectual Property and Commercialisation at the University of Derby. Prior to this, Paul was a caseworker for the former Amber Valley Member of Parliament, Nigel Mills MP, helping constituents with a wide range of issues.
